The local advantage
A boot you can’t try on is a guess.
A size chart can tell you a number. It can’t tell you your instep is high, that one foot is a little longer than the other, or where the shell needs more room. That takes a real fitting — someone who can see your foot and watch how you stand in the boot.
Every sport in this shop is a choice somebody makes for fun. So the whole job is putting you in equipment that gives you the best chance of having it. That starts at your feet, and it has to happen in person.
Boot fitting
The most important thing we do.
If your feet aren’t comfortable, you aren’t going to have fun — and everything else about the day follows from that. So we get it right.
- 01Size it right. A ski boot should fit snug and secure, not like a street shoe. The liner settles as you ski, so starting in the right shell size matters — a boot with room to spare is a boot you can’t steer.
- 02Match the last to your foot. Narrow or wide, high instep or low, there are different boots built for different feet.
- 03Work the shell. We heat the plastic and push it out over a bunion or an ankle bone so the pressure stops landing in one spot.
- 04Add a supportive footbed — it’s the foundation of a good boot fit. Movement inside a boot is what causes problems; control it and you get comfort, better control of the ski, and cleaner energy transfer up your leg.

Flex matters as much as size. Too stiff for a beginner and you end up sitting back on your tails; too soft for an aggressive skier and there’s nothing to drive against. Boots and skis work as a system, so we match the pair to how you actually ski.

A good tune changes how a ski feels. We take care of the base, the edges and the wax — and we start by making sure the ski is actually flat. A lot of bases aren’t, even new from the factory. With two stone grinders we can do a better job than the ski came with, and a flat ski takes the least effort to turn.
Worth knowing about
A binding built for your knees.
Ski bindings have always been designed to release your boot. They were never designed to protect your knee. The Tyrolia Protector is one of the first that is — it adds a full heel release, vertical and lateral, so the binding can let go in the twisting loads that hurt an ACL.
Tyrolia says it can reduce ACL strain by more than half. We’d rather you judge it yourself: there’s a test station on the floor where you can trigger the full heel release by hand and feel exactly what it does.

Fast and aggressive, or out for an easy cruise. Short turns or long ones. Groomers all day, or off hunting your own line. Twin tips for the park, narrow skis for the cross-country trails, and a full race department for anyone running gates. We have it all, because there isn’t one best ski. There’s a best ski for you.
What we’ll ask you
Before we recommend a ski, we’ll ask how you ski.
Give us five minutes to ask questions about how you ski. It’s the same conversation every time: what kind of skier are you, do you travel to ski, what are you on now and what bugs you about it, fast or cautious, short turns or long, groomers or off? Your answers pick the ski — and the boot that goes with it, because the two work as a system.
On racing: there’s a dedicated race department with race skis, race boots and race helmets built to a higher impact standard. Race kit is genuinely different from recreational kit, so you can rent a race setup for the season rather than buy into it before you know it’ll stick. And don’t let the terrain fool anyone — Midwest hills no taller than the ones an hour from here have produced some of the best skiers in the country.
Seasonal & daily rentals
Kids grow. The season shouldn’t cost you for it.
Take the equipment for the whole season — skis, boots, bindings and poles, or a board and bindings — and bring it back by the end of May. Pricing goes by ski length, so smaller kids cost less.
- 01Get them on properly sized gear every single year instead of buying two sizes big and hoping.
- 02If they outgrow it mid-season, in size or in ability, bring it in. We swap it out.
- 03Adults too — and racing packages for high-school racers.

Everything for the mountain
Head to toe.
Everything you need between the parking lot and the chairlift: skis, boots, bindings, poles, helmets, goggles, bags, layers, socks and gloves. We’ll help you build the whole setup, or find the one piece you’re missing.
Goggles and helmets are worth getting right in person. Snow reflects almost everything that lands on it, so a flat-light day and a bluebird day want different lenses — and helmets differ by protection level, head shape and fit.
Apparel
Warm on the hill. Worn on a Tuesday.
The mistake people make isn’t buying the wrong jacket — it’s buying one they can’t adjust. Out west a morning starts freezing and ends in the sun. You want layers you can shed and vents you can open. And the best ski apparel doesn’t stop being useful when you leave the mountain.
Base layers and socks matter more than people expect — merino keeps insulating even once it’s damp, which is exactly what you want between a hard run and a cold chairlift.
The clearance rack
Always worth a dig.
There’s always a rack going — end-of-run outerwear, last season’s stock, odd sizes that never found their skier. It turns over constantly, so what’s on it today usually isn’t there next month.
It’s not online and it never will be, and when something’s gone, it’s gone. Ask us what’s on it, or call ahead and we’ll go look. You’ll have to come dig.
